When to Consider Flat Shelves or Friction-Fit Displays
In-Store Staff Assembly
If retail employees need to build the display on the floor without tools or glue, a friction-fit corrugated display is a safer choice.
Heavy or Stackable Goods
If the products are heavy liquids or cans that do not need an angled presentation, a flat-shelf display transfers vertical weight more efficiently.
Material, Assembly, and Routing Choices
Fulfillment and Shipping Route
Decide whether the display will be shipped flat to a co-packer for assembly, or built and shipped fully loaded. The glued joints mean it cannot be easily shipped flat to the final retail destination for staff assembly.
Material Thickness
The slots in the side walls are cut to match the exact thickness of the shelf material. If you mix thicknesses, such as thicker walls and thinner shelves, the cutting files must be updated to ensure the tabs fit tightly.
Shelf Load and Product Weight
The total weight of the products per shelf dictates the required board thickness and the shear strength needed at the glued tab joints.
Print Surface and Coating
The large flat side walls and tall header provide excellent surfaces for direct UV printing. Consider whether the board needs a specific finish to resist scuffing during retail use.
