How much slower is the snap-lock bottom compared to an auto-bottom?

A snap-lock (1-2-3) bottom requires the packer to fold and interlock four separate flaps. An auto-bottom pops into place automatically. The snap-lock saves on manufacturing gluing setups but increases hand-packing time.

Can this be made from corrugated board?

It is generally a poor fit for corrugated board. The intricate double-tongue top lock is sensitive to material thickness and is usually produced with standard folding boxboard (FBB) or solid bleached sulfate (SBS).
