When to Choose Fully Closed Folders
Parcel Shipping and Courier Delivery
This wrap cannot secure loose items and offers no protection at the ends. If the package will be shipped directly through a parcel network, look at a standard closed-end folder or place this wrap inside a corrugated outer mailer.
Heavy or Loose Components
If the product consists of multiple loose parts or lacks the rigidity to support the paperboard walls, a fully enclosed tray or sealed folding carton is a safer choice.
Board Thickness, Print Layout, and Fit Decisions
Board Caliper and Slot Clearance
The tongue must slide cleanly into the receiving slot on the opposite cover. If a thicker paperboard or microflute is specified, the slot width must be adjusted to prevent the lock from binding or tearing during assembly.
Print Layout Across Overlapping Panels
The right cover panel overlaps the left cover panel. Graphics or text intended to span the entire top face must account for this overlap and the visible locking tongue.
Outer Shipper Compatibility
If this wrap acts as inner packaging, its final assembled dimensions must be checked against the internal clearance of the master carton to ensure a snug fit without crushing the open ends.

The shallow side walls dictate the internal clearance. This height should be matched closely to the product thickness so the top covers sit tightly and prevent the item from shifting.

The width of the left and right cover panels can be adjusted to change where the tongue-and-slot lock sits on the top face, accommodating different branding layouts or product features.

The blank is a simple cross-shape with no protruding end flaps. This allows for efficient nesting on the die-cutting sheet and high-density stacking on delivery pallets.

Insert clearance for small parts
This wrap is not suitable for loose components or multiple small parts unless they are first secured in a sealed bag or shrink wrap, as they will easily escape through the open ends.

Can I ship this wrap through the mail?
Not on its own. Because the two ends are completely open, products can slide out during transit. It should be placed inside a corrugated mailer or master carton for shipping.
Does the tongue-and-slot lock require tape?
The lock is designed to hold the wrap closed without adhesive. However, if the enclosed product is heavy or shifts easily, a clear wafer seal over the tongue can provide extra security.
Will this wrap protect fragile items from crushing?
No. The wrap relies entirely on the enclosed product for vertical strength. If the product cannot support weight, the shallow paperboard side walls will crush under pressure.
Can I print on the inside of the wrap?
Yes. The inside of the base and the inner faces of the covers can be printed, which is useful for unboxing experiences or hidden instructions.
Can this wrap be assembled on an automated packing line?
This template is designed for manual folding and locking. It does not have the pre-glued seams typically required for automated folder-gluer or case-erecting equipment.
Can this be made from corrugated board?
It is primarily designed for folding carton paperboard. While very thin microflute might work, the tight tolerances of the tongue-and-slot lock often bind or crush when used with thicker corrugated materials.
How is this wrap delivered?
It is delivered completely flat and unglued. The simple cross-shaped blank nests efficiently on pallets, taking up very little storage space.
Can the locking tongue be reshaped?
Yes. The tongue can be widened, lengthened, or given a different corner radius to change how tightly it locks or how it looks on the top panel.
