Closure, Sealing, and Material Choices

Top flap closure

The standard top flap does not have a mechanical lock. Decide if you will seal it with a branded sticker, or if you want to request a peel-and-seal adhesive strip applied during manufacturing.

Board thickness

Standard folding boxboard is a strong fit. Heavy corrugated board is not recommended because the 180-degree side folds will crush the flutes and create bulky, uneven seams.

Fulfillment method

These arrive pre-glued on the sides and flat. Packers simply slide the product in and fold the top flap over, making hand assembly very fast.

Internal clearance

The glued side seams take up a small amount of internal width. Ensure your product dimensions account for this clearance so the envelope does not tear during loading.

It depends on the thickness. Because it has no built-in depth, thick items will cause the front and back panels to bow. For items thicker than a few pages, a carton with a defined depth is a safer choice.

No, the standard top flap does not feature a friction lock or tuck tab. It is usually secured with a custom sticker, wafer seal, or an added peel-and-seal tape strip.

Can I use corrugated board for this envelope?

Corrugated board is generally a poor fit for this specific template. The side seams require 180-degree folds, which crush corrugated flutes and make the edges too thick. Standard paperboard is recommended.
