This package is supplied fully assembled by the converter. Packing teams manually pull each drawer, load the product or insert, and slide the drawer back into the sleeve. It is not suited for automated fulfillment lines.

Because rigid setup boxes cannot be shipped or stored flat, they require dedicated warehouse space before use. Buyers should plan logistics around receiving pallets of empty, fully erected boxes.

When to compare simpler slipcases or single boxes
High-volume flat-pack requirements
If warehouse space is limited or the product margin cannot support shipping empty boxes, compare this to a folding carton slipcase. Folding boxboard sleeves and trays ship flat and are erected on the packing line, though they lack the thick, premium feel of a true rigid box.
Single-item presentation
If the product does not require multiple separate compartments, a single-drawer rigid box or a standard rigid base-and-lid style often provides the same luxury feel with a simpler assembly.
Decisions for clearance, wraps, and drawer count
Sliding friction and wrap thickness
The clearance between the drawers and the outer sleeve must be carefully tuned to the exact thickness of the wrap paper. A wrap that is too thick can cause the drawers to bind, while too much clearance allows them to rattle. Physical prototypes help verify the sliding action.
Drawer count and layout
The template accommodates different numbers of side-by-side drawers. Adding drawers increases the overall length of the outer sleeve and adds material and assembly labor for each additional tray.
Outer shipping protection
Premium wrapped boxes are vulnerable to scuffing, denting, and crushing in transit. For e-commerce or parcel delivery, this package usually needs a corrugated outer shipper to protect the presentation surface.
Insert materials for product fit
Decide how items will be secured inside the drawers. Foam, thermoformed plastic, or folded paperboard inserts are typically required to hold individual components in place, especially if the box will be handled frequently or shipped.
Adjustments for thumb cuts, turn-ins, and board
Thumb cut access
The half-moon cutouts on the front of each drawer allow users to grip and pull the trays. The radius of these cuts can be adjusted based on the drawer height and the expected user interaction.
Wrap turn-in depth
The printed wrap paper folds over the top edges of the drawers and the front openings of the sleeve, adhering to the inside walls. The depth of these turn-ins can be adjusted to ensure raw board remains completely hidden even when the drawers are fully removed.
Board thickness and rigidity
The core grey board can be specified in different thicknesses. Heavier products or larger drawer spans require thicker board to prevent the outer sleeve from bowing under stacking pressure.
