Two-Sided Printing for the Header

Because the lid folds back 180 degrees to become the display header, the inside surface of the lid faces the customer. If you want branding on the header, the board must support two-sided printing.

The snap-lock base is highly secure but takes slightly longer to fold by hand than an auto-bottom. This is usually a worthwhile tradeoff for short to medium runs, but high-volume programs may justify a different base.

Adjusting the Front Wall and Header

Front Wall Height and Slant Angle

The height of the front wall can be lowered to expose more of the product. However, the lid must remain long enough to span the resulting slanted opening and tuck securely into the front.

The header can be extended to provide a larger branding area, provided the board stiffness can support the extra height without bending.

Tuck Tongue Friction Fit

The tuck flap that secures the lid during transit relies on friction against the front wall. The length of this flap can be adjusted to ensure it stays closed inside the master shipper.

Packing details

Flat Delivery and Packing Station Assembly

The side seam is pre-glued by the manufacturer. At the packing station, the operator pops the flat sleeve open, manually folds and locks the four bottom flaps, loads the product, and tucks the lid closed.

Master Shippers for Slanted Displays

Because the top of the closed box is slanted, erected displays cannot support vertical weight. They must be grouped and shipped inside a protective master carton.

FAQs

Do I need to print on the inside of the box?

If you want graphics on the upright display header, the board will need two-sided printing. The inside of the transit lid becomes the front-facing billboard when the box is opened for display.

Can I ship this display box directly in the mail?

The slanted opening and friction-tuck lid are not secure enough for parcel networks. These displays should be packed into a master corrugated carton for distribution to retail stores.

How is the bottom of the box closed?

It uses a 1-2-3 snap-lock base. The operator manually folds in the side flaps, the front flap, and pushes down the back flap until it locks into place. It does not require tape or glue at the packing station.

Can the front wall be cut lower to show more product?

The front profile can be adjusted, but lowering the front wall increases the distance the lid must cover. The lid length must be carefully checked to ensure it can still close the box securely for transit.

What board makes sense for this display?

A stiff folding boxboard (FBB) or solid bleached sulfate (SBS) is usually a practical choice. The board must be rigid enough to support the vertical header without it curling or falling backward on the retail shelf.

When should I choose an auto-bottom instead of a snap-lock?

A snap-lock bottom makes financial sense for short to medium runs. If you are packing high volumes, an auto-bottom (crash-lock) base pops into place automatically, reducing manual assembly time.

Does this box require glue at the packing station?

The manufacturer glues the side seam before delivery. Packers simply pop the flat sleeve open, fold the snap-lock bottom, and tuck the lid closed.

How does the lid convert into a retail header?

At the store, staff pull the tuck tongue out of the front wall and fold the entire lid backward 180 degrees. The crease allows it to stand vertically behind the products.
