Manual Packing Operations
This carton requires specific sequential folding to roll the buffer walls and lock the floor panels. It is assembled by hand and is generally not compatible with high-speed automated cartoning lines.
E-commerce and Parcel Shipping
The overlapping lid does not mechanically lock. If used for direct-to-consumer shipping, this carton should be placed inside a corrugated outer shipper to protect the presentation and keep the lid closed during transit.

Board, Print, and Closure Decisions
Board Caliper and Material Choice
The rolling mechanism is highly sensitive to board thickness. The inner wall is slightly shorter than the outer wall to accommodate the fold. Thicker materials like fluted corrugated board will cause the walls to bow and fail to lock. Folding boxboard (FBB) or solid bleached board (SBB) are usually preferred.
Securing the Overlapping Lid
The two curved lid flaps overlap but do not tuck or lock into place. Plan to use a clear wafer seal, a branded sticker, or a slide-on paperboard sleeve to keep the package closed during handling.
Print Layout for Buffer Walls
Because the buffer walls roll inward from the main blank, the inside of the frame is formed by the top (printed) side of the board. This allows continuous graphics from the outside of the carton to the inner frame without requiring two-sided printing.
Cavity Sizing and Frame Width
The width of the buffer walls dictates how much of the internal footprint is used for the frame versus the product cavity. Discuss the exact product dimensions to ensure the remaining cavity provides a proper fit.
Styling and Structural Adjustments

The width of the hollow side walls can be adjusted to change the internal cavity size and the thickness of the presentation frame, provided the floor panels are recalculated to meet exactly in the center.
Lid Flap Styling
The convex and concave curves on the overlapping lid flaps are stylistic choices. They can be modified to straight edges or different profiles to match brand aesthetics.
Base Friction Lock Tuning
The central floor panels must be precisely sized to meet in the middle and lock the rolled walls. This dimension is tuned based on the exact board thickness chosen for the project.

The four-panel extensions required to form the rolled walls create a wide, cross-shaped flat blank. This reduces nesting efficiency on the printing sheet, which affects the overall material yield compared to a standard tuck carton of the same volume.
