The extended panel provides immediate visual area on crowded retail shelves. It allows for larger graphics, product instructions, or promotional callouts without increasing the actual footprint of the carton.
Pegboard and hook display
When modified with a die-cut hole, the header allows the carton to be hung on standard retail pegboards. This works for lightweight items, though heavier products may require a reinforced header.

For small impulse items placed near registers, the upright panel draws attention while keeping the primary product compartment compact.

Board grain direction
To prevent the header from flopping forward or backward, the paperboard grain should run vertically. This improves the stiffness of the extended panel but can affect how the blanks are laid out on the printing sheet.
Print coating on the back panel
Standard folding boxboard is often coated on one side. Because the header extends upward, the back of the panel will be visible to consumers. If two-sided branding is required, a two-sided coated board should be evaluated.
Master shipper layout
The extended header prevents individual cartons from being stacked directly on top of one another. Master shippers must be sized to pack the cartons side-by-side or in alternating head-to-toe orientations to accommodate the display panels.
Header height limits
Taller headers exert more leverage on the base crease and are more likely to warp. The required height should be checked against the chosen board caliper to determine if a single-ply panel is sufficient.

Adding a hanging hole
A standard round punch or Euroslot can be added to the header panel during the structural design phase to enable pegboard display.
Adjusting header profile
The top edge of the billboard does not have to be straight. It can be die-cut into custom shapes or contours to match brand logos or product outlines.
Base carton closure style
While modeled here on a straight-tuck base, the single extended panel is an auxiliary feature that can be applied to reverse-tuck or lock-bottom cartons depending on fulfillment and assembly needs.
Board and packing details
Blank nesting and material efficiency
The extended panel creates a large protrusion on one side of the flat blank. This irregular shape can prevent tight interlocking on the printing sheet, often resulting in higher material waste compared to a standard carton without a header.
