Double-Locked Wrap-Around Carton

The carton relies entirely on mechanical tongue-and-slit locks on the sides and a tuck flap on top to hold its three-dimensional shape. However, tape or labels may be useful if you want tamper evidence or are shipping it through a parcel network.

This is a wrap-around folder designed for manual assembly. Automated cartoners expect a pre-glued tube that opens for loading. Using this carton on a line usually involves specialized wrap-around equipment.

Folding boxboard (FBB) or solid bleached board (SBB) provides the right balance of stiffness and flexibility. Corrugated board is usually a poor match because the flute thickness interferes with the tight tolerances needed for the tongue-and-slit locks.

Flat products like books or hardware kits can be difficult to slide into a tight, pre-glued tube due to friction. This design allows you to place the item on the flat base and simply fold the walls up and around it, making loading much easier.

Because the design uses mechanical locks instead of a glue seam, it bypasses the gluing machine entirely during manufacturing. This eliminates a production step, making small runs or prototype batches more economical.

On its own, the mechanical locks may disengage if the carton is dropped or crushed during rough transit. For parcel networks, it should be placed inside a corrugated outer shipper or secured with heavy-duty tape.

Tearing usually indicates that the board caliper is too thick for the slit dimensions, or the tongue is too large. The lock dimensions should be adjusted in the CAD file to match the specific board grade being used.

Yes. Because the carton is die-cut and delivered as a completely flat blank without any folded-and-glued seams, two-sided printing is straightforward and often used for premium unboxing experiences.
