Does this carton require tape or clear seals?

For retail presentation, the slit locks usually provide enough security to keep the carton closed without tape or clear wafer seals. However, if the carton is shipped individually through a parcel network, it will require an outer mailer or a secure external seal.

What is the difference between a friction tuck and a slit lock?

A standard friction tuck relies on the tight fit of the flap against the front panel to stay closed. A slit lock adds small cuts to the shoulders of the flap that physically hook onto the inner dust flaps, creating a mechanical catch that must be actively disengaged.

Does this closure work well for heavy products?

It provides more resistance against bottom blowout than a standard friction tuck, but it is still limited by the tear strength of the paperboard. For truly heavy items, an auto-bottom or crash-lock base is a safer choice.

Can this be made from corrugated board?

It is generally not recommended for corrugated board without careful testing. The flutes can crush at the locking slits, causing the lugs to fail or tear. Solid paperboard provides the clean, rigid edge needed for the lock to function properly.
